- Following two years of lackluster sales, the market for nonwood doors,
windows, sash, and trim took off in 2004, turning in the strongest gains since
1997. U.S. manufacturers' sales, which are now advancing by more than 5% per
year, should total $18.6 billion in 2006. What?s in store for the future? See
our comprehensive analysis of overall market dynamics, including our short-
and long-term forecasts.
- Metal products continue to dominate the nonwood market, but the fastest
growth is occurring in the plastic segment. Sales of doors, windows, and
related products made of vinyl, fiberglass, and similar materials are on track
to capture nearly 40% of the market by 2007, up from only 27% a decade
earlier. Our in-depth market coverage examines competition among the various
material types, including traditional wood products.
- Vinyl windows continue to gain ground in the remodeling and replacement
market. By 2007, vinyl products should account for 59% of unit sales of prime
windows in this channel, taking market share away from both aluminum and wood
windows. Vinyl has also become the dominant material in new construction
applications. This report examines both new construction and replacement
demand, covering residential as well as nonresidential applications.
- Housing starts have slowed in the U.S., but they remain strongest in the
Northeast. The value of office building construction increased by 4.0% in
2005.The percentage of new homes with garage space for two or more vehicles
ranges from a high of 93% in the West to a low of 74% in the Northeast. This
report provides you with detailed info on trends that impact the industry's
bottom line.
- A special section of this report analyzes the results of recent builder
surveys detailing the brands they're familiar with, the brands they actually
use, and how they rate various brands in terms of quality. Products covered
include entry doors, garage doors, patio doors, metal windows, and vinyl
windows.
- Pella Corporation, Drew Industries, Silver Line Windows, Overhead Door
Corporation, Masonite International, JELD-WEN, and CertainTeed Corporation are
just a few of the major manufacturers profiled in this report. Get all the
