Research Overview
Objective of this study:
Frost & Sullivan has tracked the water industry for over a decade and continues to monitor key and niche players in this market year on year. We not only have a good understanding of the public companies operating in this space but more importantly the niche players with innovative technologies and market potential. End-users in both the municipal and industrial space are no longer loyal to their existing suppliers, they continue to be hungry for innovation and competitive pricing. Most are even open to buying from new entrants with no brand name recognition. Though there are many prominent companies operating in this space, their continued focus on customer needs is crucial to maintain their market leadership.
Throughout 2005, Frost & Sullivan will be monitoring the top companies within the water and wastewater equipment and technologies sector. The companies will be rated throughout the year based on some specific criteria formulated by Frost & Sullivan analyst team (listed in more detail in the following section). These will serve as a selection criteria for "Frost & Sullivan Top 50 Water Industry Companies", that would be released at the end of 2005.
Throughout this year Frost & Sullivan will be publishing profiles of companies operating in the water segment (Definition of segment inclusions in the next section). The order in which the profiles are published will be at random and is not exclusive to large companies with higher market shares. Frost & Sullivan will be on the look out for smaller niche players that have an innovative technology, marketing strategy and the initiative and drive to enter into this highly competitive market. The name Zenon ten years ago may not have meant anything to participants in this market; the small Canadian company that has grown organically through innovation and has seen tremendous growth globally since then. There may be other such niche players yet to emerge that deserves recognition. Seeking, analysing and recognizing such companies will be Frost & Sullivans object this year as part of this study.
