IMS Research's "European HMI Hardware User Survey 2005 -- Benchmark Results
and Customer Requirements" report has been specifically designed to help
suppliers better understand their customers' views of products and services
offered in comparison to their main competitors. This is the first time IMS
Research has conducted this study for HMI hardware suppliers.
The information contained in this report has been obtained from an online
survey which was developed independently by IMS Research. A link was then
e-mailed out to users of HMI hardware across Europe. The questionnaire was
split into two main sections. The first being a general section which reviews
the requirements of HMI hardware users and identifies which factors have the
most influence over a customers' choice of supplier and a ranking section,
which asks users to rate up to three of their suppliers against certain
criteria. These ranking results were used for the benchmarking part of the
survey that ultimately decided which supplier was the HMI hardware vendor of
the year for 2005.
"Product Reliability was identified as being the single most important factor
when selecting which HMI hardware supplier to purchase from, with 29.2% of
respondents specifying that this was the case. Another factor that was
considered to be an important consideration when selecting which HMI hardware
supplier to purchase from was "competitive price", mentioned by 21.3% of
respondents."
This report is ideal for anyone looking for a highly detailed customer focused
analysis of the European HMI hardware market. Areas of focus include the
portable HMI hardware market, preferred HMI hardware communication protocols,
and requirements for screen type and size.
