Abstract
Cancer is considered to be the second largest reason of death in the U.S.
after heart disease, with roughly one in every four deaths linked to some form
of cancer. Time and again, cancer is cured with radiation therapy (used in
about 50% of all treatments), either alone or in grouping with surgery or
chemotherapy. At present, the most widely used radiotherapy uses X-rays
delivered by external beams administered using linear accelerators.
The World
Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the annual incidence of cancer is
expected to increase 50% to 15 million cases annually by 2020.The aging of the
baby boomer population in the U.S. and the overall growth in the elderly
population around the world is one of the main factors that will drive future
growth in the market.
Most of the international markets are under-equipped
with radiation therapy systems to deal with the growing cancer incidence.
Cancer patients in a number of foreign countries must often endure long waits
for radiotherapy treatment. Many of these countries are expanding and
improving their radiotherapy services to take care of their cancer patients,
which represent additional drivers for continued growth in the international
markets.
The report focuses on the global radiotherapy equipment market --
its segments, value, growth rate, opportunities, drivers etc. The Europe and
Asian radiotherapy equipment market have been covered separately. It also
discusses linear accelerator' s market overview and projections.
The report
profiles some of the key industry players, including their financial
information, key business strategies, etc.
