Abstract
This Manufacturing Insights report draws on the results of Asia/Pacific
(excluding Japan) Manufacturing Vertical Market Survey, carried out in
September-November 2007, among 98 organizations in the automotive manufacturing
segment across nine countries in the Asia/Pacific region. The focus of the
study is on both business and IT priorities, as well as the initiatives of the
automotive manufacturers in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ in 2007 and
2008.
"Automotive manufacturing represents one of the key sectors of growth in APEJ
in recent years, fueled by a surge in global demand, booming macroeconomic
factors, increasingly affluent middle-class population, and low-cost
manufacturing. However, both OEMs and component manufacturers in the automotive
industry need a clearly defined strategy to take advantage of this growth and
maintain sustainable profitability," says Debashis Tarafdar, senior research
manager, Manufacturing Insights Asia/Pacific.
